Tattoo Designs & Meanings

February 6th, 2009

What does your tattoo mean to you? What does it mean for others? These are very relevant questions for tattoo seekers. Getting a tattoo is a decision that shouldn’t be taken likely because they are permanent markings on your body and you will have to see or look at it every single day of your life.

Tattoos aren’t cheap either. Unless the tattoo artist is a good friend, it’ll usually cost you hundreds of dollars to get a really good tattoo. And remember, a tattoo is really just another form of expressing yourself, like music and art, it’s the same thing only a little more radical.

So don’t be in a hurry. Take your time and make sure you get the tattoo you really want and know what it means to you. Don’t just settle for whatever you might think will look good, but really give it a lot of thought and research.

Tattoo Artists Help Make Laws in Iowa

February 5th, 2009

Iowa is considering revising their laws on tattoos and tattoo shops. With the help of tattoo professionals, they’ve come up with ideas to help tattooing in the state become legitimate.

Some examples are prohibiting minors from being able to get a tattoo and making sure tattoo artists take classes about diseases that could be passed around by exposure to blood.

Fees for tattoo shops are also increasing very high compared to what they are now, but tattoo shop owners aren’t too worried about, probably because they make plenty of money!

For the most part, tattoo shop owners and artists are not worried about the changes and are actually glad that the state is doing this. It’s been 20 years since any laws have been made or revised concerning tattoos.

The Sensor Tattoo

February 4th, 2009

Have you heard about the new type of tattoo that will sense the chemicals in your blood? It’s really cool! It’s mainly going to be used for people with diabetes or some other condition that the sensor will be able to pick up.

It’s made out of beads that are actually smaller than the ink used in a regular tatttoo. So diabetics won’t need to prick themselves to check their blood anymore. The “ink” will be injected into the skin and won’t do any harm, but it will need to be injected once in awhile, it’s not permanent.

The jist of it is, when your level of sugar is high, or whatever element it’s supposed to pick up on, the ink will glow, so you’ll have to have a certain light that will be used to check your skin.

There’s still a lot of development to be done, but eventually, you’ll be able to have a really nice tattoo design that actually helps you keep track of your sugar level or whatever condition you need to keep a track of.
